South Elkhorn Christian Church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation. Our logo symbolizes that we are all broken people. The person in front of the cross shows that it is only through the cross of Jesus that we can be made whole.
The Stephen Ministry Series is an organized system by which lay people are trained and served to provide one-on-one Christian care-giving to individuals going through difficult times. We believe that Christ is the cure-giver and we are the care-givers. We do not try to fix problems but focus on the relationship and the process.
Our Stephen Ministry program provides on-going supervision and education to it’s Stephen Ministers. We continue to train new Stephen Ministers and send select individuals for Stephen Leadership training, in order to keep the ministry alive and witness for Jesus Christ.
The Stephen Ministries’ headquarters is located in St. Louis, Missouri. It is a not-for-profit religious and educational organization since 1975. It represents more than 10,000 congregations, with about 400 new ones each year. It represents more than 150 denominations, including the United States, Canada, and 21 other countries on six continents.
We are proud to be a part of this ecumenical ministry. We see this as one of the many effective ministries that South Elkhorn Christian Church provides. We not only see this as a means of serving those in our congregation, but others as well, outside of our Christian community.
