Youth Room Renovation
The middle school and high school youth rooms are getting a facelift: new furniture, new paint, new decorations, new blinds, curtains, and more are on the way in May 2018. This investment in South Elkhorn’s youth ministry will support the continued spiritual conversation, learning, and connection of students in grades 6-12. This is a vital and growing ministry. Over the next couple of years the youth ministry is set to double, even triple, as elementary school students graduate and enter the program.
The furniture that is currently in the youth rooms have been damaged by extensive use and major church events over the years (like the twice annual consignment sale). The current furniture is not conducive for creating inclusive conversation with the many new faces that will enter the room. New furniture will allow for a larger circle of seating with more total seats. The modular nature of the seating will also make it easier to reconfigure as needed and moved for special events.
The investment in the youth rooms will also benefit the community groups that make use of the space during the week. The high school room is used each week by a local clergy group for a time of prayer, study, and reflection.
Most of the funding for this project was made possible by the Memorial Fund, with additional dollars contributed, as needed, by the Cabinet Discretionary fund and Capital Fund.
