Dean Phelps, Interim Regional Minister
Former South Elkhorn member, Dean Phelps, elected Interim Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Kentucky upon retirement of Greg Alexander. Letter from Regional Board Moderator:
The Regional Board of the Christian Church in Kentucky has elected Rev. Dean Phelps to serve as Interim General Minister, beginning May 1, 2019. Dean is a native of Maysville, KY and a current resident of Versailles, KY. He holds degrees from Kennesaw State University (B.S.), Emory University Candler School of Theology (M.Div.), and Georgia State University (M.S.).
Dean has served in multiple ministry roles, including as an Associate Minister in Cherry Log, GA, as well as an Associate Regional Minister in both Georgia and Indiana. Dean served as Interim Regional Minister in Oklahoma and Central Rocky Mountain Regions.
In his interview, the Moderator Team was inspired by Dean’s commitment to strategic thinking. Deanbelieves Kentucky is in an exciting time and he is eager to join us in better understanding our systems, developing a strategic vision for the future, and breaking down our barriers. He believes strongly in the role of outdoor ministries in the lives of people.
He is an accomplished musician, a compassionate soul, and deeply committed to ministries of presence. Dean is the spouse of Rev. Deb Phelps, pastor of New Union Christian Church in Versailles. You are invited to pray for Dean and for the rest of the Regional staff during this time of transition.
